About Us

Spinnaker Sailing was founded in 1978 by three adventurers in Redwood City. The company quickly grew to several locations. The San Francisco division broke free from the parent company in 1991. While the Redwood City Branch and San Francisco remain close business allies, there is no other connection.

Spinnaker Sailing offers sailing certification through the ASA (American Sailing Association) as well as offering private charters on its fleet of 22-50 foot yachts.

The ASA certification standard is accepted by charter companies throughout the United States. Recently, Spinnaker Sailing added two new ASA classes to the curriculum, creating a sailing education program that is much more comprehensive than the competition. The new Coastal Navigation and Advanced Coastal Cruising standards are now part of the regular school schedule.

Spinnaker Sailing's sister company, Rendezvous Charters, offers corporate and private parties on U.S. Coast Guard Certified vessels of 50-90 feet in size. The two companies have been working together for over twenty years, offering the best in sailing entertainment and education to people from around the world.
