55' WATERLINE PILOTHOUSE CUTTER
STATEMENT FROM WATERLINE YACHTS

Since 1982, we have been striving to build the best offshore sailboats possible. All our customers have had specific requirements for their boats, and most have kept in touch over the course of their cruising. Since many of our boats have been variations of earlier projects, we have been able to refine and improve original concepts. Many of our clients bring vast experience to the design table and in doing so help with the evolution of all Waterline Yachts. Over the years we have been fortunate to assemble a crew of dedicated craftsmen who, due to their love of sailing, gain immense satisfaction turning their dreams into reality. Almost oll of our crew are experienced offshore sailors or racers, so they know what it means to be in a small boat on a big ocean. You can depend on their top quality workmanship and attention to detail.

HULL AND SUPERSTRUCTURE

The hull and deck are constructed of mild steel (minimum 44,000 psi yield) with a plating thickness of 3/16" on the hull skin, ½" on the keel bottom, ¼" on the keel sides, 11 gauge on the house, deck, cockpit, and transom and 10 gauge on the skeg and rudder. The angle framing system runs both transversely and longitudinally. All seams are welded inside and out. 316 Stainless steel attachment points are provided on deck for stanchions, windlass, toe rails, chainplates, and companionway hatch. The toe rail is a highly polished 316 stainless steel 1/1/2" by 3" rectangular section tube and is mounted on integral welded tabs set just high enough to free all deck water quickly. Integral in the keel structure is a baffled fuel tank. Below the fuel tank is a sealed, lead filled ballast compartment in a bulb appendage. A forward sail locker with deck access provides a watertight collision bulkhead. A self-draining anchor tray is built in. The bow-sprit/anchor rollers are of stainless steel fabrication and welded into the hull. The fixed salon windows and hull side fixed ports are laminated hurricane strength reflective coated glass. There are 5 opening ports with screens and 7 overhead hatches with screens providing excellent ventilation.

PILOTHOUSE

A truly unique feature of TRUE LOVE is her integrated pilothouse offering 360 degree views. The pilothouse can be fully enclosed or opened to the cockpit with power aft windows that drop down at the touch of a switch and a companionway door that recesses into a self draining pocket. This creates an excellent place for round-the-clock passage making as well as enjoyment dockside or at anchor. The yacht can be comfortably operated from this pilothouse on cold dark nights offshore or it can be used in nice weather with the windows open. A unique feature is the access from the pilothouse into a sensibly arranged equipment room / workshop. A hatch under the pilothouse settee provides easy access to step down into this space. Once in the equipment room you have excellent access to almost all of the essential systems including the main engine, generator, fresh water maker, heating system, refrigeration system, electrical components etc.

ACCOMMODATIONS

TRUE LOVE has a well conceived layout for both offshore cruising and extended time living aboard while in port. She features two private queen size staterooms and 2 heads. There are generous amounts of storage incorporated throughout the yacht. There is hurricane rated glass with reflective coating in 8 fixed windows above deck and 12 fixed port lights. 5 opening ports and 7 overhead opening hatches provide excellent ventilation. A Webasto hydronic central diesel heating system with 5 separate air handling zones keeps the yacht warm and dry. An Everhot On-Demand water heating system is tied into the Webasto system which provides unlimited hot water while underway or at the dock.

One enters the yacht from the cockpit into the raised pilothouse with 360 degree views through the large safety glass windows. The pilothouse is a functional space to run the yacht in adverse conditions. It is also a comfortable space to relax in port or at anchor with commanding views. Crew in the pilothouse can easily communicate with those in the cockpit through large opening power windows. Under the starboard settee in the pilothouse is access to the huge equipment room / workshop. The equipment room / workshop conveniently houses essential equipment such as the main engine, the Webasto Hydronic Diesel Seating system, the EverHot on demand hot water heating system, the Spectra WaterMaker, the Northern Lights Generator, the Glacier Bay Refrigeration System and many other essential systems. There is easy access to the engine room. A fold-down workbench makes a convenient spot to make repairs while comfortably seated underway.

Access to the accommodations is excellent from the pilothouse down the wide safe companionway steps. Once below, one finds shelter and elegance while still enjoying their surroundings through the abundant fixed windows, ports, and hatches. Starting forward is the owners stateroom just aft of a watertight bulkhead. A washer/dryer is built in to port in the passageway that leads to the owners stateroom. To starboard is the forward head with a large separate shower stall. Continuing aft is the main salon. A large comfortable dinette is to starboard and a straight settee is to port. Further aft to port is the aft guest or day head. Across to starboard and is the large U-Shaped galley. To port and aft of the companionway is the comfortable aft stateroom.

The interior joinery is light colored maple and the sole is rich mahogany with inlaid maple throughout. There are numerous access hatches which are fitted in the cabin sole. The workshop sole is finished with rubber non-skid tiles. The overhead is gloss white painted tongue and groove panels which are removable for accessing wiring and deck hardware. The galley and head counters are Corian and have integral fiddles. Abundant overhead, reading, and task lights are fitted. Overhead lights in the salon, galley and navigation station provide excellent lighting when needed.

The forward Owners Stateroom is entered through a door at the forward end of the passageway from the salon. A Washer/Dryer is conveniently located in the companionway that leads to the forward stateroom. Headroom in this cabin is excellent. The stateroom features a comfortable centerline queen size berth. Four drawers are located beneath the bunk's aft end. A cabinet, hanging locker and bookshelf are to starboard and aft. The port side features a large hanging locker and an additional locker with a shelf on top. Forward and above the bunk are four cabinets. Two sets of reading lights are fitted at the forward end of this bunk. Four hull side fixed ports and an opening overhead hatch provide abundant natural light and ventilation.

The Owners Head is accessed directly from the owners stateroom. This space is finished in white laminate, solid Corian, and varnished maple trim. Vanity cabinet doors are framed with Maple. An overhead hatch and a fixed port illuminate this space during the daytime. At night, one overhead light, one shower light and one double task light above the mirror will keep this space bright. Storage is found in a cabinet under the sink, and one behind the vanity mirror. Towels are hung from polished chrome bars. A heater outlet is fitted in this cabin and all other cabins. Within the head compartment is a spacious separate shower stall with ample stand-up space and a seat. The shower base has a very tall lip to serve as a small tub and is of white gel-coat finished/molded fiberglass for ease of maintenance. An acrylic door keeps shower water contained in this stall.

The Main Salon is amazingly bright and open with numerous fixed port windows and overhead hatches. The large comfortable dinette is to starboard and seats 6 for dinner. Storage is abundant in cabinets, shelves and compartments. A TV set is concealed in a compartment and there is a Bose Stereo system. There is a straight settee to port that can also serve as a sea berth with storage below. There are four secured hatches in the sole for bilge access and additional storage.

To starboard aft of the dinette is the large "U-shaped" Galley. Corian countertops with integral Corian fiddles sit atop maple cabinetry. At the forward end, a partial bulkhead nicely divides the galley from the dinette while still allowing the cook to socialize. Located on the vessel's centerline and high is a set of deep double stainless steel sinks. These sinks will drain overboard at any angle of heel. A single lever designer faucet with pull out sprayer nozzle and a fresh water foot pump spigot are mounted at the sink along with a filtered drinking water faucet. Forward beneath the counter are two large drawers and a double door shelf cabinet. Outboard is a microwave fitted into a dedicated cabinet with storage below. Next aft is a gimbaled Force Ten three burner stove/oven. Just aft are two drawers and two cabinets below. All the way aft and outboard is a set of cabinets for pantry storage. On the aft galley counter there are two large flush hatches that provide access to the huge refrigerator and freezer compartments. Controls are conveniently located just outboard and adjacent to the counter.

To port across from the galley is the Guest Head. Like the forward head, this space is finished in white laminate with gloss varnished maple trim and a solid Corian counter with integrated fiddle and vanity sink.

Aft and to port of the companionway is the Aft Guest Stateroom. This cabin is nicely finished solid maple staving. Two fixed hull side ports plus two opening ports are found outboard. Ample space and headroom is found all the way forward in this cabin for stand-up dressing. The bed is queen size. A large hanging locker and storge bin below is outboard and forward.
