This class is for graduates of the Intermediate Coastal Cruising program who want to qualify to charter 34 to 50 foot sailboats at Spinnaker Sailing. The course gives students an opportunity to take a large sailboat on an overnight cruise, including a 20 mile night sail and a 20 mile daysail. Classes run Friday evening to Sunday evening (48 hours) and are typically held aboard 40 to 45 foot cruising sailboats. Classes are held on San Francisco Bay, where students make confidence-building leadership decisions sailing in the Bay's challenging conditions. To qualify for the class, students must have already achieved ASA Intermediate Coastal Cruising and Coastal Navigation certification, and must have at least 3 days' sailing experience as skipper of a 29-33 foot boat.
ASA Advanced Coastal Cruising certification is awarded upon successful completion of the on-water and written portions of this course; graduates will be certified to sail yachts up to 50 feet in length by day or night on coastal waters nearly anywhere on the planet.
